Things that you to know about Tetris Game

Tetris challenges the player to complete lines by moving pieces of different shapes, the tetrominos, which scroll from the top to the bottom of the screen. Completed lines disappear while earning points and the player can again fill in the freed boxes. The game has no end: the player loses the game when a tetromino gets stuck at the top. It must therefore withstand the continuous fall of tetrominos as long as possible, in order to achieve the highest score. In the case of a multi-game, the goal is to resist longer than its opponent, knowing that it is possible to send malus by making combinations of lines. According to journalist Bill Kunkel, Tetris perfectly meets the definition of the best in gaming: one minute to learn it, a lifetime to master it.

Rules

Te tris built on simple rules and demanding intelligence and skill, it is considered one of the great classics of the history of video games alongside Pong, Space Invaders or Pac-Man. The game is adapted on most game media, both on computers as well as on game consoles and mobile phones. Some versions bring variations such as a 3D display, a reserve system or multiplayer.

Tetris Records

Because of its addictive aspect, Tetris quickly led players to try to set records. The easiest measure to compare performance is score, since this is one of the information provided by the game. The time is not representative of the level in some versions, because of the easy spin that blocks a piece in its fall. However, the number of points quickly becomes a limit: for technical reasons, the first versions limit the score to a number of 6 or 7 digits. The original version on Game Boy, for example, is limited to 999 999. Subsequently, Tetris DX adds an additional number, allowing up to 9,999,999. However, players quickly reach this level within a few hours of play. Tetris DS gives the score one more figure but only memorizes a number of lines on 3 digits, up to 999174. This limitation does not allow for ranking for high-level players. The game also has a bug, since the record is not recorded if it equals 999 999 999.

To solve these problems, some games then set up time-limited games. The player must then achieve the highest score or achieve the largest number of lines. Nevertheless, the large number of versions makes it difficult to compare each player's scores. The Guinness Book of Records awards Harry Hong's record for the most lines on Tetris DX. On September 13, 2007, the American player achieved 4,988 lines and a maximum score of 9,999,999173. According to the website Twin Galaxies, the record on arcade terminal is held by Jeff Craggy, since April 3, 2012, with a score of 2,072 133, while fureur.org awards the record to Matthieu Valles, with 2,289,756 points.

The previous record, by Stephen Krogman on June 5, 1999, was 1,648,905. To illustrate the differences between versions, the record certified on Game Boy is 748,757 points, by Uli Horner. In the women's category, taking into account Valles' performance, Clémence Larrat holds the world record, with a score of 2,194,094 points obtained at the Tetris World Cup in Tampa, Florida, on April 4, 2010. Since its release in November 2014, the Tetris Ultimate version has had an international overall ranking. At the beginning of the development of the game, Pajitnov asked to know who is the best player in the world. Thus, the game allows to see the highest score of all players of the globe, regardless of the platform, and to see the game in order to study the game strategy for example.
